Over ten years after their last release, the Frisian band A Liquid Landscape is back with Rogue Planet. This album band comes with a darker, more powerful, and alternative sound, heavier riffs and guitar mayhem. The album concept – a 'wandering planet' detached from a star – symbolizes alienation and social unrest in a digital world. Yet, a glimmer of hope shines through the melancholy time and again.
A Liquid Landscape consist of Coen Speelman - Drums, Robert van Dam - Bass, Niels van Dam - lead guitar and Fons Herder - Vocals/guitar. Together they produced an album that is of a great quality.

At 41 minutes across four chapters, the album is on the short side, but the content is solid:A Few And Far Between (Part 1 & 2): An impressive opening. Part 1 builds from a heavy riff to an intense, post-rock-esque climax. Thebeautiful guitar work by Niels van Dam is an highlight. The vocals by Fons Herder are amazing. What a singer he is! Part 2 is a bit calmer. Ok, Anethema coms in mind, but not more than that.
Intention & Consequence: brilliant and tight bass lines, and once again strong guitar work. De Raven Song (Part 1 & 2): An atmospheric, quiet interlude that gradually gains emotion and power. Virgo Calling: At over 9 minutes, the absolute standout track (along with the opener). Everything comes together here: dreamy passages, dynamic rhythm changes, and an emotional release.

The return of A Liquid Landscape is a bullseye. Roque Planet drags you into the music and doesn’t let go. Beautifully played and Niels van Dam did a great job with the mix.
